Drama in the front yard: A large solid gray hawk? had a small bird down and pinned under its talons. Poor little bird was alive and trying to escape but the larger bird kept stomping it. I didnt know what it was waiting for and so I just watched while it stood there. All of a sudden, two larger solid black ??? showed up and hovered in the tree limbs over this life and death scenario. The gray bird finally took off with its prey and the two larger black birds went after it. There ensued a huge air battle. Unfortunately they took the whole thing to the woods across the street and I never saw the outcome. So, here in Conyers, GA...what were those birds? The gray was a solid steel gray with no other markings and probably 12 to 14 inches in height with a wing span of 2 feet. The larger solid black ones were closer to 18 to 20 inches in height, very big, and wing spans of 2 1/2 feet.
