Draw Me Close to You The best moment that each christian can have is not to be with somebody else but to be in the presence of the Lord. Let us admit that the world and everything therein hinder us from being close to God. The world includes the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (I John 2:15-16). These things separate us from knowing God more and more. These things sap our desire to want Gods presence. These things form a dark cloud in our minds, so we could not see the light of Gods glory. The pastor in the pulpit oftentimes preaches about believers who couldnt attend prayer meeting because they opted to watch their favorite TV programs. Some believers even leave the church early because they rush to watch Pacquaio fight. Sometimes invitation from friends and visit from them become also a hindrance in spending our time with God if meetings with them are not focused on faith building. Others do not enjoy their communion with God because they are busy with the affairs of this world. Today, if Mary were here, she would tell us the importance of seeking Gods kingdom. She would encourage us to always put God first in our lives. She would give her testimony about the blessedness of having an intimate relationship with God. She would finally get our attention that one thing is needful in our christian life, that is finding time to be alone with God. Lu 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Let our hearts desire Gods presence. As the deer that pants after the water, our soul should long for Gods presence (Psalm 42:1). As we pray today and seek Gods presence, may we utter in sincere prayer our desire to have Gods presence in our lives. May we ask for forgiveness for not neglecting our devotions with God and duties to Him. Oh I want to know you more, deep within my soul, I want to know you. May that song be our hearts sincere prayer, uttered or unexpressed.
