Dress Culture & Christianity The theology of christian dressing is some of the most divisive topics among christian communities. Serious attachments, often showing strong effervescence, are strenuously latched to particular stereotypes - with everyone staking a claim of right standing with the word. My duty here is neither arbitrative, nor verdictive. Its simply my learning for an evangelical mind. I dont think there should be a timeless doctrinal set out for generic Christian dress code, except of course, where dress branding is used as an expressive language tool, or for functional classification. Sometimes, its challenging when cultural clash exist side by side with well ingrained dress group identification, especially those that had absorbed a material sanctity in a severe separatist mix, to draw a simply modest rule as an evangelical dancer - becoming all things, that I may win some... It is difficult to draw the line while keeping soul winning in mind, and the fear also not to overstate the discretion into a shepherd approval of what clearly does not represent progressive faith in Christ Jesus. The evangelist and the pastor shepherd are pulling the string on both ends. While the evangelist is primarily concerned about selling the cross, being careful not to trade the irrelevant dress heritage for cross faith, the shepherd is burdened not to set back what is sound faith in the cross, or the match to maturity. For the believing child of God, there should be modesty in mind, willingness to make adjustment to accommodate separatist groups when situation demands it. The Principle I Timothy 2 vs 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety.. I corinthians 8 vs 13 Wherefore, if food (or by extension dressing in any particular way, etc ) make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh ( by extension avoid dressing that way) while the world stands, lest I make my brother to offend. The principle of sound christian dressing requires that believers dress to build faith rather than destroy it. Dont in the name of being progressive, help accelerate a potentially bizarre dress trend. Christians should take their moderation further from its demanding obligation to more of counter weirdness, an aggression to underprice and under-pride deviant dress behavior that hasten sin attraction like nudity. Here comes christian celebrities call to duty. Most have failed Jesus. They are not helping matters. Their occupation is to hype a leveling to the fame of non-christian celebrities by following their ways, rather than attempting an unsuspecting damping adaptation. In conclusion, please dress to cover your nakedness enough not to be an offence to someones thriving or struggling faith. In your liberty to try any trending fashion, please be sensitive to the culture you find yourself and adjust temporarily while there so as not to create a social and relational difficulty. If you are in the midst of conservative christians, do not contempt them as backward, they are a dominant subculture, please adjust to make them feel a sense of brotherhood. #crossflames
