Dressage day. No mistaking where we are with the famous electrical backdrop. First up Jenny and Oz with Lou Moore Jacobsen warming them up again so Jenny and I can stay friends. Oz wasnt feeling the warmup arena as usual but Jenny rode him through it and actually (hold on to your seats) had him on the bit. Well as much vertical as poor Ozs neck will allow. They had moments. Real moments, except for the walk or lack thereof. Only The Llama can get his head up higher than Oz in a walk trot transition. Still Jenny isnt last and gets another qualifying score to add to Woodsides. Its all good. My little Ella is still struggling with being 9. Rolex is coming up soon and she just doesnt have time for this learning curve. The complexities of dressage are frustrating and unnecessary. Obviously all you need to do, is get your horses head down. Well Loris Henry is not the judge for that and Ella got schooled. All the way to last place. But there was no naughty pony this time and she came out of the ring like a good sport. Tomorrow she will be 10. Much older and wiser. Hopefully we will celebrate her birthday with as good a cross country as her last event. McKenzie is riding Abby for Alyssa this weekend for some miles. Abby was a broodmare for 8 years and we broke her at 9 and said guess what? Youre now an event horse. This is challenging for a stay at home mom who did nothing but take care of the kids and get her nails done, but she was all in today getting a 30 and 3rd place. No bathrobe and curlers. Then there was my big boy. Hes never really been anywhere and only got 2/3 of a Beg Nov at Woodside when I bought him so this is a lot to take in. Rain was like whatever. Squeak and I got work to do. He struts in the ring like he owns the place and knocks out a 28 and first place. I have to hand it to my daughter, some find riding today. Like Megan always says, we didnt come here for second, so she got 1st and 3rd. Now jumping will be the challenge. Abby goes with the emergency break still on and Rain has never seen any of it. Come on Tibetan Prayer flags. The Prelim course looks good. Nothing Jenny cant do with her leg on. Cross Country results tomorrow. Till then sports fans.
