Drivers in Chinchilla take note! To have a drivers licence in this state and any other in Australia you must follow the road rules. This applies to Chinchilla QLD! I am so sick of drivers in this town continually ignoring the pedestrian crossings! They are there for a very good reason. They are very obvious..this law is not selective of those who choose to practice it...they apply to everyone! Queensland Government Dept of Transport and Main Roads quote: When driving a vehicle or riding a bicycle, you must give way to * pedestrians when they’re crossing at pedestrian crossings, children’s crossings or marked foot crossings. * When approaching a pedestrian crossing, you must drive at a speed at which you can safely stop at the crossing. * When you are turning at an intersection, you must give way to pedestrians crossing the road you are turning into. To the useless driver who laughed at me this morning after he nearly took me out you my friend are one of the people this is aimed at! But you are not the only one! It is infuriating!!! Teaching our kids to cross in the correct zones for their safety all seems irrelevant when drivers dont consider the safety of pedestrians. Im not talking about crossing everywhere...I am talking about crossing at the very bright and large striped lines across the road! I have had enough and I am going to start taking number plates....before someone gets hurt!
