Driving downtown on Cherry St. this morning, it appears the fire - TopicsExpress

Driving downtown on Cherry St. this morning, it appears the fire station is closed. I then drove past the Condit St. station and there was a lot of office supplies and equipment being moved in. Time will tell if this move will eventually have an effect on the ISO rating for Huntington City due to some longer response times, plus a reduction in Firefighters, especially from the northeastern part of the city to the northwestern part, using the railroad as a dividing line. I am going to ask the City to print out a coverage map outlining the response areas for each fire station, to be printed in the Herald-Press AND TAB, especially for medical assists. Also, in 2015, if the City and Township cant reach an agreement on City protection for the Township cost going from $75,000 to a ridiculous $250,000, my opinion is the City will lose Engine 2 (Tanker) which is owned by the Township. That will leave the City with 2 Engines, Tower 4 and Truck 8. That is a reduction in equipment, Firefighters and a station being closed. Give that some though on the ISO rating for Huntington City. I may not be the smartest cookie in the jar, but I feel this will change the ISO rating and homeowners insurance will go up...as if it is not expensive as it is.
