Driving into Yreka tonight, I was humbled by the scene before me. On Saturday, only the front of the high school was being used as a fire base, by Sunday it was the entire school. The baseball fields and practice fields look like tent city. By tonight, even the gas station by the school, its entire field behind it is a staging area. You cant drive down the road without seeing a fire engine, go into a store without seeing firefighters, drive by a motel with out seeing more emergency equipment. It really hits hard the enormity of the fires and the danger surrounding us. Threatening our friends, our families, their homes, ranches, animals..... I stopped a number of times to thank a firefighter I passed in the parking lot or in the store. I ask you to do the same. These brave men and women, alot of them have traveled far away from their homes and their families to save ours. Thank you all! And may God keep you all safe!
