Driving out of the fire zone on my way home on Monday, I managed - TopicsExpress

Driving out of the fire zone on my way home on Monday, I managed to get out via the road between One Tree Hill and Kersbrook, which was right in the heart of where the fire started. The burnt trees are a dead give-away that it must have been hot. To give some idea of the intensity, this is the remains of a stock standard, off the shelf, ALUMINIUM, not fibreglass (or any other material) yellow advisory road sign. Remembering that the melting point for aluminium is upwards of 600ºC. The number of houses and out buildings still standing through there is nothing short of miraculous... The fact that no lives have been lost so far is beyond that...
