Driving through Laytonville yesterday, I passed CalFires base camp - TopicsExpress

Driving through Laytonville yesterday, I passed CalFires base camp for the Lodge Complex fires in northern Mendocino County. A tent city had been erected to accommodate what appeared to be hundreds of personnel from CalFire, CCC, National Guard and fire departments from as far away as Orange County. A dozen or so helicopters were busy ferrying crews to and from the remote site, as well as pulling buckets of water from the narrow canyon of the Eel River to dump on the flames. As of this morning the Lodge Complex is at 2,700 acres with only 10% contained.
