Driving through the beautfiful city of Qalqilyah we came to stop - TopicsExpress

Driving through the beautfiful city of Qalqilyah we came to stop at this ugly Israeli apartheid wall. 42,000 Dunhams of land has been cut off from Qalqilyah by this wall which is mostly agricultural land, farmers from Qalqilyah have a hard time accessing their land beyond this wall and when they do manage to reach it, they are harrased by the Israeli army and illegal settlers who damage crops and violently assult Palestinians. 24,000 Dunhams has been stolen from Qalqilyah for illegal settlements. The wall surrounds Qalqilyah in what can only be discribed as a bottleneck cutting off Multiple entrances and exits to the city, now there is only one way in and out which causes long delays when it comes to traffic as Palestinians try to enter and exit into the city. Surrounding villages outside of the wall have become completely cut off from Qalqilyah apart from the only remaining entrance and exit into the city, so in an emegency situation like reaching the hospital they have to drive all the way around this wall to enter Qalqilyah. Life is hard here because of the Israeli restrictions but the Palestinians are strong and resiliant. The illegally built settlements are shocking in this area they are not just a few houses with red roofs on the top of hills they look more like towns with great big apartment blocks and Israeli only roads.
