Drs. Barajas and Hausmann‐Stabile will be holding an Information Session for their upcoming professional peer support groups for Latina researchers and academics. Great opportunity to network and receive support from peers in the tri-state area! When? September 26, 2013, 6.30 to 8 pm What? During early career development, researchers and academics often struggle to meet their professional demands while finding time to write. Grant writing and dissemination of scholarship, however, are the markers by which our professional success is measured. This is especially true for Latinas, who must often juggle career and family needs, and for whom little mentorship is available. The Latina Researchers and Academics Professional Peer Support Group will focus on creating an environment of collegial support to help each other develop fundable projects and publish our work. During each monthly meeting, peers will discuss a colleague’s grant or article draft from a conceptual, methodological, and strategic perspective. All participants will be invited to share their work and provide constructive feedback to peers. For whom? Latina researchers and academics in the early stages of their career, such as post‐docs, non‐tenured professors, and researchers at universities who hold a PhD or an MD degree. Where? The meetings will take place in the Union Square area, conveniently located near most subways. When? Monthly, from September to May. Coordinators: R. Gabriela Barajas, PhD – NYU School of Medicine & Carolina Hausmann‐Stabile, PhD ‐ Rutgers University For more information, contact latina.peers@hotmail
