Dry and Uneventful Weather Through the Middle of Next Week - TopicsExpress

Dry and Uneventful Weather Through the Middle of Next Week High pressure will continue to dominate the weather through the middle of next week. As a result, dry and benign conditions are expected statewide. Despite very warm air aloft, the lack of mixing means that it will be difficult to realize the full extent of the warming at the surface. Overall, temperatures will be near average during the day, with warming conditions this weekend in the mountains and at the coast. However, nights will be very chilly at first, thanks to the very dry air mass. Several wild cards include the extent of fog and also decreasing air quality. Although the atmosphere will be stable and somewhat stagnant in the lowlands, the dry air will likely mean that only patchy fog and low clouds will occur. It also appears that there will be some offshore flow in western Washington this weekend. Any areas that are able to mix out of the inversion could be quite warm, with low 60s possible at the coast, and on any low to mid elevation slopes west of the Cascades. Next week, temperatures will continue to moderate, especially at night and in the east, while some coastal and mountain areas could see cooler days later in the week. A weak disturbance may break through the ridge later next week, and bring an increasing chance of light rain to western areas. However, any potential system should give way to a rebuilding ridge of high pressure by weeks end. Somewhat more active weather may return for early December, but wet weather is unlikely through this outlook period.
