Du Plessis back on Recite After being the architect of Recite’s downfall at Taupo, Mark Du Plessis will be back on board the Group One-winning filly for her upcoming three-year-old outings. In an ironic twist, he guided Bounding to victory on Wednesday at Recite’s expense when the latter’s connections opted for the two kilo claim of Miranda Dravitzki. “The other filly did look more forward and Mark kicked and put two lengths on us before Miranda reacted,” Recite’s trainer John Bary said. “It was good to get the run under her belt though and when we head to Wanganui Mark will get back on and for the Soliloquy and all going well in Australia. He’s a world-class professional and if you can win in Hong Kong you can win anywhere.” Recite, the winner of last season’s Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes, had come through her Taupo run in good order and would take great benefit from the outing. “She ate up well and we’re very happy – I had said to Rick (Williams, racing manager) if you’re worried about losing the unbeaten record then we need a jump-out and a trial, but it’s been so wet for so long down our way. “She’s still growing a bit and is still down in front and I see a lot of improvement to come from her yet.” Stablemate Survived also enjoyed a spin around Taupo on Wednesday with an exhibition gallop in the hands of his Gr.1 Makfi Challenge Stakes rider Opie Bosson.
