#DubCal Biography I think I was born to be a rap artist, the need to write lyrics and perform just flows through my veins. I can’t really explain why, but I’ve been writing lyrics since the age of 5. While I was in Middle School, I joined a rock/punk group and rapped, we called ourselves The Soul Survivors (with Joe Sherwood on guitar and Paul Vyaz on drums). We were just a bunch of kids having a great time creating music we loved. By the time I hit High School I joined up with a friend named Tommy Kelete and together we recorded our first tracks in a small studio called Dark Matters studio. The instant I got in front of that mic I felt a sense of calm rush over me and I knew from that point on that my life was music and I wouldn’t settle for anything less than the pursuit of that serene calm I felt that day. When I hit 18 years old I moved to St. Louis where I recorded tracks with an amazing producer, Sadeeq, and began runway modeling for the Raspberry Company. Throughout the years I’ve had several amazing opportunities, such as being on the sets of the videos Air Force One by The St. Lunatiks and Right Durr by Chingy. After that I moved back to San Jose’ Ca. where my friend Paul Vyaz introduced me to Chraze-C,and Teaz-Em of and with Envius Musik. As well as Danny Youngblood of Youngblood Entertainment. While in the Bay area I performed with artists such as E-40, KRS one, Jacka, Ap9, Skrilla Sam to name a few. In 2010 I moved to Los Angeles and released my first single Lit, produced and featured by T-Buiz who then took me along with the Sierra Leone family to N.Y. to support him on BETs Blaze the Stage live on television. In 2012 I performed on the MISS BRAZIL USA TOUR PAGEANT in San Francisco thanks to Christina Ribiero. When 2013 rolled around I was honored to meet and go to shows with many celebrities within the hip hop world such as Snoop, Freeway, Ricky Ross, Too Short, Method Man and several more. I had the pleasure to be in the studio while Chi King and Sons of Man Prodigal Sunn recorded the Ol Dirty Bastard Birthday Tribute and I was blessed to helped record the music video. Chi King introduced me to Fedro Star and Sticky Fingaz which have my song Heaven Sent getting ready to be released on an upcoming project. I was blessed to have been invited by my friend Ernest Miles to BET’s BLAZE THE STAGE in May of 2013 in Venice Beach with hosted by Big Mike. I consider myself an extremely lucky man to have had the opportunities I have been blessed with in my time on this earth. My mission in this industry is to take the Road Less Travelled, always learn and grow with my endeavors, stay humble and true to my soul. I hope to inspire the next generation of artist’s in all genres and use my life experience to influence the direction of the hip hop movement towards a more personal and deeper form of expression. Every rhyme I write has a piece of my being sprawled across the paper and I only hope you can feel that when my songs play.
