Dubai e-Government renamed Dubai Smart-Government : Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered amending the name of Dubai e-Government to Dubai Smart-Government starting from Thursday, June 30, 2013. The new name is in consistence with the initiative that was launched by Shaikh Mohammad in May to turn the e-Government into a smart-Government. This new decision comes as a result of Shaikh Mohammad’s keenness on change and the continuation of creativity to keep up with the requirements of the smart-Government’s next stage. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General, Dubai smart-Government said that the decision represents a leader’s vision as it is in consistence with the requirements of applying the smart-Government’s goals and embodies Shaikh Mohammad’s outlook to the future: “which does not sleep, works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as hospitable as hotels, quick in processing its interactions and easy in its procedures”. On Wednesday, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, launched the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart Government Programme, which will lay the foundation for transforming the Dubai Government from eGovernment to smart government. The move comes in line with the vision of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to develop the government work, and in response to the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. On the sidelines of launching the programme, Shaikh Hamdan said: “Today, we lay down the path to transform the Dubai Government from excellence government to future government that can achieve number one according to the aspirations of UAE’s leadership. We do not look forward to going international only, but also to making a qualitative leap in services provided to the public by Dubai government.” “We are looking forward to being a centre of government work where excellence is no longer our goal, but creating pioneering work through a paradigm shift in Dubai Government services at all levels in line with the directives of the UAE’s supreme leadership and making unprecedented historical achievements for the public service in a manner that satisfies the public and in harmony with the requirements of the new stage,” Shaikh Hamdan said.
