Duck friends I have an issue with one of my pekins. He seems fine now but a bit ago he seemed to be too cold and as a result he had some sort of a seizure and was shivering badly. He was flat on his back flopping around and seemed disoriented. He had no previous signs of illness either. I took him and got him warm as fast as I could and when he warmed up he ate a few grapes and a small bit of feed but he does not seem to like the feed. He also drank water. He pooped three or four times and he pooped normal when he did. Now he is preening in front of the stove and even wandered around the living room for a bit. And NO the feed is not medicated or anything. Hes eating the same mixture of scratch grains and game bird food the wildlife rehabber had been feeding him and he also gets fruits and vegetables all the time: pieces of melon, grapes, tomatoes, leafy greens, etc. I am thinking he got wet and cold. He seems fine now that he has dried and warmed up. He isnt sneezing, coughing, or anything either...I may go to get him some stuff at the feed store on Monday if this is a sign of some sort of illness but honestly Ive not seen anything like this before.
