Dudes- I believe I speak on behalf of many females when I present you with this information: I find myself sighing a lot when I post something thats supposed to be funny and among those who are spectacular & appreciate the joke, I get patronizing responses. For those of you who dont know, this is the definition of patronizing according to Google: To treat with an apparent kindness that betrays a feeling of superiority. I love friendly debate & genuinely well-meaning people almost as much as I love whoever invented cheese, but if you think youre giving some sort of fatherly advice or presenting facts that are super obvious to you in a manner that belies the fact that you think I couldnt have arrived at this same conclusion on my own, youre being patronizing. Being patronizing is often not intentional or super-douchey, but its still exasperating to be on the receiving end of. (Also stop using sweetie or hun unless youre talking to your kid or your significant other, because ew. Ill expound upon this at a later date.)
