Due to an oversight Ike & Mike were not placed in the October 30, 2013, Junction Eagle. Sorry guys! Ike Hey Mike, that was a tough game last week; tough on the players and tough on the fans. How many former Junction Eagles football players have felt that same sting of defeat by our purple neighbors up the road on 377. Only a couple seasons removed from a State Championship run, I believe these Punchers showed us they may have what it takes to get there again this year. Our Eagles met up with a very aggressive, hard hitting Brackett team a few weeks ago, only to be challenged last week by this equally aggressive (and big and quick) fine-tuned Mason Puncher team. The Punchers showed they deserve the state ranking they have achieved. What I liked about the game, besides our Golden Eagle Band putting on a fantastic half time show (much better than Mason’s, I would add), was the second quarter---we held our own in the second quarter and-----I saw a wonderful improvement in our punting team. We had a lot of hard working young men giving it their best against a very tough playoff-bound Mason Puncher team. Come on fellers, let’s move on---------- we still have some football to play!!!! You Lady Eagles give it all you got----git r dun, Black!!!!!!! Mason kept their district score a perfect 3-0. Brackett stays perfect at 3-0, as they pounded Center Point 61-21 (Brackett plays Mason---in Mason, Friday night. We will see which dog has more bite). Ozona still has a shot at Brackett, too. Ozona put down Harper 36-17. This settles Ozona in at 2-1 and Harper at 0-3 in District standings. Our Eagles are at 1-2 on the District scale and Center Point joins Harper at 0-3. We still have Ozona and Harper yet to play. Mike, I know our Eagles want to win and I know they want to even up their District score for a shot at a respectable 3-2 District season outcome. This week, it’s not Brackett or Mason----but it is a very good (but beatable) Ozona Lions team. As the score from the Lions-Longhorns game showed, Harper had some success against the Lions. I also noticed from the stats that both teams did well running the ball and passing the ball----Ozona just more so. Our Eagles have the ability offensively to put on a rushing clinic. We have some great guys on the line that can push open some holes and if we can get to clicking on some pass plays, we just have to have some----- BIG D--------- and Our Mighty Eagles can pound out a victory this Friday night as they travel down I-10 into Lion country to take on Ozona. Come on BLACK----EAGLE UP! BEAT OZONA!!!!!!!!! Junction 24 at Ozona 21 Brackett 20 at Mason 28 Center Point 7 at Harper 21 Hey Ike !!! Ike -- Ike -- Ike -- Ike -- Ya know last week we discussed the two-humped camel and the one-humped camel having a no-humped camel for a baby? Well, I was mistaken, the no-humped camel was NOT Humphrey--It was a COW -- Get it? Oh well, I guess there’s some explaining to do somewhere, but the point is that things don’t always go as expected or as they seem like they should -- Like when the Lone Ranger and Tonto rode into town -- Since it was a hot day, the Lone Ranger decided to get a cool drink -- He asked Tonto if he would run around Silver, thus causing a breeze to keep Silver cool -- As the Lone Ranger was finishing his cool root beer, the sheriff walked in and asked him if that was his horse outside --When the Lone Ranger replied that it was, the sheriff informed him he had left his injun runnin’ -- My apologies to Don Glover, the Golf Guy and Lone Ranger fan-atic -- and also to all my Indian friends and family!! Friday night at Junction Eagle Stadium, things didn’t go as well as we had hoped or expected -- Mason came to town and showed us why they are defend-ing state champs and looking to repeat -- those guys are good, and we just couldn’t seem to get started -- the final score being 48 - 0 in favor of Mason -- The good news being, we don’t have to face them again this year, unless it is in the playoffs!! Speaking of which, our MIGHTY JUNCTION EAGLES are still in the running for the play-offs. By beating Ozona and Harper, we will be in the play-offs!! This Friday, we will travel to Ozona to get the first half of our goal accomplished, by putting it on Ozona -- then, Harper comes here to wrap up our regular season -- Then, we’re PLAY-OFF BOUND -- IF things go as they should, or could, or as expected, or as hoped!! As we know (see above) things don’t always work out that way -- Just ask Clyde about his new son, the cow, I mean the little bull -- OH NO, I guess I’ve done it again -- Anyway, the EAGLES win over Ozona by the score of 34 - 20!! If ya can’t make the game, listen to Chuck and Ted on the radio, 1450AM and 93.5FM. See ya at the game --- GO EAGLES -- Mike
