Due to land use violation complaints, coupled with destructive behaviors by what has likely been a small number of people over the last few years, we want to inform the public the area of the Bijou Creek west of Fort Morgan, the “Bijou”, popular for four-wheeling and dirt bike/ATV riding, is closed and off-limits. A complaint was filed in County Court recently by Morgan County alleging the unregulated use of this area as a motocross riding park is a violation of the county’s zoning regulations. At a recent meeting between county officials and property owners/designated representatives, the property owners agreed to voluntarily close access to this area until the land-use issues may be resolved. This means, until further notice, NO ONE is allowed access into this property except the property owners. Anyone entering this area without explicit permission from this point forward, will be subject to arrest and prosecution. The property owners expressed their intent to sign complaints against those trespassing and using the property without authorization. The property owners may explore options in the future to possibly allow use of the area again, after the land-use issues are resolved.
