Due to my running two pages, I want to pass this on, as I often do not have time to check webpages...but my understanding from City Tap Bar is that this info is usually posted on their webpage...Here is this weeks schedule, but might want to check into that if you frequent them Wednesday @ 8:00 -* Open Mic* Come check out some of Pittsboros talent at Open Mic! As always on Wednesdays its $1 off draft beer as well Friday @ 8:30 PM - *Joe Bell & the Stinging Blades* Conceived in cigarette smoke and nurtured on cold beer, the Stinging Blades are a bar band down to the marrow. Their mixture of Memphis Soul, New Orleans R&B, Blues, Rock & Roll, and finely honed original tunes all played with real feeling keeps a joint rocking. They never resort to the lowest common denominator in choice of tunes, but always try to lift the atmosphere to a higher plane while remaining anchored in carnal pelvic funk. This band jams! However, dont think of them as a “jam band. Thats not to say that they arent open to the ecstasies of psychedelic pandemonium. But when all is said and done, the pleasure found in a good groove well played is paramount for these fellows. If its feeling, quality tunes, and a healthy portion of Rock & Roll magic you desire, let the Blades cut off a slice for you. Joe Bell and the Stinging Blades Saturday @ 8:30 PM - *Doug Largent Trio* Experience the dynamic sound of jazz organ trios from the classic Blue Note era. *The Doug Largent Trio* is based in Chapel Hill, NC, and features Doug Largent on organ, Brad Maiani on guitar, and a revolving cast of excellent drummers. We specialize in the music that provided the soundtrack for parties and nightclubs in the 1950′s and 60′s – classic standards, Latin rhythms, blues, funk, swing and bebop. Doug Largent Trio Sunday @ 3:00 - *David King* David King was introduced to music by a classically trained soprano and pianist mother and influenced by his parents collection of folk music from the 60s including Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. Local musical influence comes from the late Reagan Cole and his weekly folk music jams in Durham. David has been hosting the Hootenanny in Durham over the past year and is still going strong.
