Due to recent events at UBC, I had a dilemma around 2:00 AM last night (Friday). I live on the far end of campus and was worried about walking alone... especially after having some drinks in heels and a dress. I had phoned AMS safe walk and they had closed. Then, outside of McDonalds, I saw two guys going my way. After telling them where I live and expressing my fear to them, they were more than happy to walk me home. In fact, they made sure I got right to my door even though it was quite out of their way, and at such a late hour in the cold fog. To Ryan and Cody in second year Kin, you guys made me feel safe and I am so thankful that there are strangers like you out there!! It is sad that girls should feel scared to walk to their door on their own campus, but it is so comforting to know that there is more good being done by men than bad. Once again thank you for walking me home and providing me with wonderful company on the way there. Sincerely, The girl who made it home, safe and sound.
