Due to the Etiwanda Fire Emergency, the Animal Center will offering the following services today: Intake of Fire Evacuee Pets Intake of Rancho Cucamonga Stray Pets Intake of TNR Cats Return of Pets to their Owners Lost Pets We will not be doing pet adoptions today, but will resume adoptions as soon as the emergency situation has commenced. Etiwanda Fire Update – 5/1/2014 10:00 a.m. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 1, 2014 IMPACTED AREA: Approximately 1,000 acres impacted – 10% containment No structures lost; one home sustained minor exterior damage RESIDENTIAL – MANDATORY EVACUATIONS: All mandatory evacuations have been lifted RESIDENTIAL – VOLUNTARY EVACUATIONS: North of Hillside from Archibald to Milliken Central Park remains open as an evacuation shelter (11200 Base Line Rd., Rancho Cucamonga) ROAD CLOSURES: Rolling road closures at this time. Please follow law enforcement instructions. Please allow access for emergency personnel. CITY FACILITY CLOSURES for May 1, 2014: RC Animal Care Center – Closed to the public but open for evacuated pets, lost pets and returning pets to owners. Central Park – Closed, all programs cancelled All Outdoor Sports Fields – Closed due to poor air quality SCHOOL CLOSURES for May 1, 2014: Banyan Elementary – Closed per Alta Loma School District Caryn Elementary – Mandatory closure Golden Elementary – Mandatory closure Day Creek Intermediate – Mandatory closure Alta Loma High School - Mandatory closure Etiwanda High School - Mandatory closure Los Osos High School – Mandatory closure Rancho Cucamonga High School - Mandatory closure Chaffey College – Mandatory closure ANIMAL EVACUATIONS: For livestock assistance contact Animal Services Field Division at (909) 466-7387 x1 Small pets can be taken directly to the Animal Center (11780 Arrow Route, Rancho Cucamonga) or Central Park (11200 Base Line Rd., Rancho Cucamonga) PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL: Approximately 700 Fire Personnel are on scene from agencies throughout San Bernardino County Two firefighters sustained minor injuries. U.S. Forest Service, CAL Fire, Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in unified command. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department provided extra patrol overnight in the north end of the City and will continue throughout the day. BE PREPARED: The situation remains dynamic and the winds continue to be a problem.
