Dundee boss keen not to lose finnigan Striker Carl Finnigan - TopicsExpress

Dundee boss keen not to lose finnigan Striker Carl Finnigan could be set to seal a move back to England. The Tele understands three unnamed English lower league clubs ran the rule over the Dundee frontman last season and are set to pounce with his contract situation at the Dark Blues remaining unclear. The 26-year-old endured a nightmare start to 2012/13 after signing on a free contract from St Johnstone last summer. A recurrent knee problem, which required surgery, kept him out of the first-team picture until March and the arrival of new boss John Brown. But a late run of eight appearances, which returned one goal and some impressive cameo performances off the bench, proved the striker is fit and fully recovered from what was at one point deemed a career-threatening injury. Bomber has confirmed he is keen to hang on to Finnigan, especially with Gary Harkins and John Baird leaving Dens. The gaffer has made it clear in previous interviews that he is keen to build a team around the Geordie frontman. And the former Newcastle United trainee has been offered the chance to stay at the club, with a one-year deal on the table. But having knocked back overtures from two of the interested clubs last summer, Finnigan might well opt to move closer to home. Since 2007, Finnigan has been based north of the border, following his release by the Magpies. eveningtelegraph.co.uk/sport/dundee-fc/dundee-boss-keen-not-to-lose-finnigan-1.100050
