Hours after the new naivasha law courts opened its doors, the two became the first casualties as they were found guilty. Naivasha Resident Magistrate Selina Muchungi found the duo guilty saying that a deterrent action was needed to curb the vice. First to be sent to jail was 19 year old Moses Wanyama who was found guilty of defiling an eight year old minor. He had been charged that on the 5th of July 2012 in Karagita estate he abused the minor and faced an alternative charge of indecent assault. In her ruling, the magistrate noted that minor remembered the abuse vividly as the incident took place during day time. She noted that the prosecution had proven the case beyond any reasonable doubt adding that this had been reinforced by medical evidence. She dismissed the accused defence terming it as weak and mere denial noting that his defense that he had been framed did not add up. And in the same court, a 47-year old father who defiled his 15-year old step-daughter was also sent to jail for the rest of his life. William Otunga was left in tears after he was found guilty of committing the offence on the July 13 last year in Kwa Muhia estate in Naivasha. The casual laborer who faced an alternative count of indecent assault had lured the teenager into his house where he abused her.
