During Jesus’ ministry on earth He suffered extreme persecution, and just like Him those who are His followers will suffer the same. In these times of persecution it does not take long before we start losing the heart we once had for Jesus. Our hearts become fragile clay and the end seems to never come. We can become very angry, sad, disappointed, and sometimes we will we start sinning ourselves. No matter the situation we are to keep the Beatitudes Jesus laid out for us. These Beatitudes are not laws and things we must do, but it is the attitude we must keep and strive for so that we can make it through the persecution. Persecution can strip all we have or ever had away and make us poor. But in that poorness we realize that all we ever needed was God and nothing else. So that sadness of lost is easier to let go and the burden of holding onto things is released. Learning to mourn and expressing our emotions and feelings to God allows us to feel the extreme comfort God offers and lets us know God is near. God is never on the side line looking in. He is with you, and He is taking on the pain and suffering you face. There is nothing wrong with suffering for good rather than evil, for those who suffer doing good is in the will of God. 3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. 6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. 7 God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. 9 God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. 10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way. Matthew 5:3-12
