During my first trip to Cuba in 1981, I met many Cuban women whose husbands were playing a similar humanitarian role in Angola to assist Angolans defend their newly independent nation from the invasion of the Apartheid South African armyy. Although they greatly missed their husbands, they were so proud of the sacrifices they were making in the struggle again South Africa and in support of anti-colonial liberation movements in Africa. Years later, Cuban medical expertise came to the rescue of their Caribbean brothers and sisters in Haiti in response to hurricane disasters and systemic poverty. Americans would never know of those Cuban internationalist contributions as the US media was pretending that US hurricane relief was the cutting edge of assistance. It wasnt...pure and simple! I am already sick and tired of reading how Ebola is an imminent crisis. It is an African crisis, not an American crisis! Full stop!
