During my sons karate class, the children performed Rohai. I was impressed that I regret not taking pictures of the performance, to my surprised, my son was called for a special demonstration. He glanced at me before the performance communicating like watch this, mama. He had been asking me to watch him perform this new form Rohai. Fortunately, I had my IPad. I must have missed 2 or 3 forms at the beginning of the performance. (The Rōhai kata are a family of kata practiced in some styles of karate. The name translates approximately to vision of a Crane or vision of a heron. The kata originated from the Tomari-te school of Okinawan martial arts.) Watch this video, this has GAINED my son a belt signature from the Kicks Karate lead instructor. He is guaranteed for a first Dan (degree) test. WOW, it wasnt too long ago when he had passed his black belt test. When was that? It was on 7/19/2014 as his certificate indicated. Its very unlikely that we signed for belt test in less than 6 months, was his instructors words. (The dan (段?) ranking system is used by many Japanese organizations to indicate the level of ones ability (expertise) within a certain subject matter. As a ranking system, it was originally used at a go school during the Edo period.[1] It is now also used in modern fine arts and martial arts.) I saved you a lot of money, mama, was my sons brag. You were so great out there bud. I am so proud of you, was my reply. That sentence earned me a thank you and a hug. WHAT an AMAZING child!
