During my time on the campaign talking with students, teachers, administrators and parents I have learned one thing, that the state is not meeting expectations. It is hard to believe that the Base State Aid Per Pupil in 1994 was $3,600, only a little over $200 less that current funding levels of $3,852. Using the Consumer Price Index current Base State Aid Per Pupil should be $5,777 just to match the 1994 level. We cant honestly believe that this tiny change in funding has kept up with inflation and rising costs of education. The problem is not the School Finance System or administrations being too top heavy, it is the state shirking its constitutional responsibility to fund public schools putting children and our future as a state at risk.
