During our pre-flight planning, my flight instructor and I learned that there was a temporary flight restriction (TFR) in place because Vice President Joe Biden would be in the area. As we neared Los Angeles, we learned of another TFR around a raceway near Rialto, where we saw an airship floating around it, and in the distance, what I first thought were birds. It turns out that they were small jets, flying directly away from us, which I thought were for Bidens security. They turned, and flew past us, and we counted 3, 4, 5, 6. They were the Blue Angels! They turned again, and approached slowly. For a brief moment, all six Blue Angels were flying in formation, low and off the left wing of our little Cessna 172 trainer. Thank you U.S. Navy Blue Angels for giving us a moment well never forget! (Unfortunately, I didnt have a camera within reach!)
