During our time, academic performances were not as embarrassing as today. C or better outweighed todays heavy lot of Ds,Us, and Xs. I have observed my former schools, Donga JSS (CJSS then) and Francistown Senior Secondary Schools drastically drop down the pecking order over time. Former students (90s and early 2000s) used to shine at these schools. My conviction is that it is upon students to do more in order to develop academically - not just to score better marks. Yes, there is an element of teachers and the environment, but my view is that these variables can only contribute a portion to the final outcome...Of late, attitude towards school has changed altogether. During those days we used to compete among ourselves in class and we revelled in being labelled dithubi, and indeed go ne go jewa buka, I doubt the spirit still exists? #ReflectingOnFormThreeResults
