During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln held a meeting in the White House with a contractor to discuss his plans for removal of all Africans from the United States following the war. His plan was to ask congress for funds to forcibly relocate all Africans in the country to a holding zone in Texas prior to deportation. The contractor assured Lincoln that it could be done within 18 months. What took place in Natchez, Mississippi would have likely taken place on a much larger scale. There is a great need for African American scholars and others to research the truth of Africans history in shaping of the United States, the extent of the horrors, how that affects the descendants even today, and what must be done to correct the wrong done.
