During the First World War, a constant flow of letters and cards - TopicsExpress

During the First World War, a constant flow of letters and cards crossed the Atlantic ocean. Popular among British, Canadian and American servicemen on duty in France and Belgium were postcards featuring hand-embroidered designs on silk. This beautiful example of a Christmas postcard sent to Florence Reid by Private Martin Suter carries a special story. In 2010 we told the tale of the couple and how the cards came to be at the Museum in an issue of Inside History: warmuseum.ca/newsletter/archive/christmas-wishes-from-the-trenches/ Image Hand embroidered postcard 19750073-068 © Canadian War Museum
