During the SADC Peoples Summit I participated in a symposium on ending child marriage, at which recommendations were developed for the main Summit. Other panelists included the Junior President Nhlanhla Moyo and Plan Regional Manager for 18 Plus Programe Ms Emily. The fully packed room of participants included girls from various schools, civil society networks with my sisters from the YWCA. Its clear that real and lasting interventions must include addressing household poverty and status of girl, addressing social norms and ensuring legislative protection and access to justice.
