During this season of goodwill, I would like to thank everyone who has supported the cause to free Eugene de Kock over the last year. Together we have gone through periods of anguish, frustration, excitement, disappointment, anger and despair, but we have always managed to blow the embers to a bright fire of hope again and again. I believe we are on the last stretch of this particular road to compassionate freedom for him and subsequently for all of us. As long as Eugene is in prison, there are many who will feel the burden of having left one of our own behind. There has not been a single avenue that has not been followed up during the past year in our attempt to get a parole and more importantly, a presidential pardon for him. The reward for those who have worked so hard behind the scenes and for our members will be the day Eugene de Kock walks out of prison and the notice, “Eugene is freed” is posted on our group. Until 31st January 2015, we will not rock the boat, we will gently steer this ship to its destination. May we all have a safe and peaceful Xmas and may Eugene’s spirit soar beyond those prison walls, buoyed by the wings of hundreds of prayers and the hope of a thousand hearts. You will be in our thoughts every day Eugene, but especially on the day when we celebrate the birth of Christ.
