During worcester week I performed an experiment. ‘Object Synthesizer’ Object Synthesizer is a musical performance, inspired by the likes of John Cage. I used studio objects, along with a theremin based synth made using a door handle. I plan to extend this performance by creating my own synths and theremins. The sound piece is designed to create an experience that sculpts the space and dynamics in a room. It was important to create an atmosphere a sense of something ‘brewing’ using simple objects. The use of objects that are found lying around a studio against the likes of professional audio equipment makes for an interesting experiment. Every object has a potential, no matter how big or small and so does every space along with every person. People, Places, Objects These are all variables that I must work through in my performance/experiments. I have started to work through this by handing one theremin synth to a member of the audience. This allows the audience to be plunged in to the depths of the performance. The deep layers of sound that crash against them as the monitored microphones pick up the rooms ambience and project it to create a constant ever changing and growing force, a deep bellow of feedback. youtu.be/ik1J-ZiFNPg
