~Dwayne’s Devine Moment~ “What is so important that you cant live without” Someone once told me you sure are lucky to have been at the right place at the right time when it came to my present profession! I paused for a moment after that statement was made and then I responded. I began by telling them, when I started my present employer I was 40yrs. old. I started as a custodian, but I saw myself as something greater. As I worked in that position I would spend my off time surfing the companys position listings, while my co-workers would be watching every sport game, hanging out at bars or watching the newest drama on TV. I eventually took a test and promoted into my profession at the entry level, the same day enrolled myself into a Trade College. The minimum requirement to promote was a certificate, I choose an AA degree. For five years I went to work & school exclusively and when the test was available to promote into my current position I was #1 on the list to be picked up! Now! how the f#ck was I lucky? I sacrificed having fun, watching my sport teams games & my favorite dramas to getting paid more money than I ever made in my entire working career!!! And during that time I was going to school I had the State taking money from me, so once again how was I lucky! This same person who made this statement is still currently in the same position, but always complains about the pay and no opprotunities to get ahead; I say What is so important that you cant live without” How important is your finances, your health, your relationships? If its not important to you, why would your situation be important to anyone else? SMDH!!!
