Dwight Dudley is a friend of mine who is not afraid to fight back as our State legislature from Pinellas County. He has been unfairly blasted in television ads because he has relentlessly been battling against Duke Energy who has been ripping off the public for years. Florida law allows Duke Energy to CHARGE customers as part of their monthly bills for FUTURE construction of nuclear power plants. But after collecting this money, Duke Energy decided NOT to build the plants afterwards, and did not have to refund the money! Dwight proposed legislation to change this law and return our money, but Duke Energys lobbyists paid to kill it. He is also fighting Duke Energy to to stop them from adjusting their billing cycle by ADDING 12 days in August to jack up profits. Dwight also wants to end Dukes monopoly by allowing alternative and renewable energy to compete against them instead of letting them stay the only game in town. As everyone knows, competition brings down prices. Dudley started his own small business 16 years ago as a criminal defense lawyer after working as a Public Defender defending the Constitution. As a small businessman, he understands the impact the recession has had on families and other small businesses in Florida. Even CONSERVATIVES should be willing to vote for a candidate who wants to put money back in the hand of citizens by repealing the Duke Energy tax, believes in promoting competition by reducing regulations, and is a small business owning defender of the Constitution. Before you buy all the lies being said about him, ask yourself this one question: WHO DO YOU THINK IS PAYING FOR ALL THOSE TV ADS?
