Dysarthria after stroke (survey) Happy new year. You may have spotted our piece in the RCSLT Bulletin in December about our survey of dysarthria after stroke - a survey directed at SLTs and people with dysarthria We are just writing to encourage you to fill in the survey if you can please. Wed be so grateful for your help and views - even if you only saw one person with dysarthria over the last year and even then decided not to treat it. The address to access the survey (for people with dysarthria and for SLTs) appears below. If you want an email/ hard copy version please do feel free to contact me (again, full details below). Also below is the wording from the Bulletin article incase you already mislaid your copy :-) All the best in the meantime. Do pass on this request to other colleagues if you feel they would be able to contribute. And please do encourage your clients with dysarthria to fill it in too. Best wishes and very many thanks Nick & Steven Nick Miller & Steven Bloch Text from: Bulletin December 2014: Do you ever assess or treat people with dysarthria after stroke? Do you see people with aphasia, apraxia of speech or dysphagia who also have dysarthria? Then we want to hear from you. It doesnt matter whether its one or 100 people with dysarthria you have seen, whether its in a hospital, community or any other setting, whether its every day or once a year, whether the dysarthria is undetectable by listeners through to causing major intelligibility issues, whether its soon after stoke or years later. We are conducting a national survey of SLT provision and practices for people with dysarthria. It will give us key information for planning a major multidisciplinary and multicentre study to address vital issues in the assessment and treatment of dysarthria. Please fill in the survey which will only take a short time to complete. We are conducting a parallel survey for people with dysarthria. Please encourage people with dysarthria whom you know to join in too.
