E-Mail sent to the Snohomish County Sheriff today: Sheriff Trenary, My name is Matthew McSheehy and I reported a lost dog at the Wallace Falls State Park on Sunday May 11th. I do not have a case number for this incident as no active report was taken. However I have spoke to the local deputy in Goldbar on several occasions. On Monday evening the 19th a woman txt’d me an image of a black lab meeting the description of my dog. He was wearing the same collar as when he was lost minus the ID collar. A woman had him tied up outside of the Fred Meyer in Monroe. I called 911 and drove out to the location. The operator forwarded my call to the Goldbar deputy who was unwilling to assist with this as he told me that there are too many lost dogs to help everyone who loses a dog. He did however reluctantly forward my call to the local police in Monroe. Officer Patton was dispatched right away and interviewed one of the two people spotted with the dog I was told about. The woman had already left the scene with the dog. In questioning the young man seen with her entering the store (Travis) we were unable to get any cooperation about the girl in question, so the officer had to let him go without evidence. The Monroe Police have done a great deal to assist within the bounds of the law including making a sweep twice of the homeless areas above Fred Meyer. They unfortunately can not open a case file on this incident because the pet did not go missing in Monroe and there was no way to verify this was my missing pet, Fats, other than a cell phone picture. Fred Meyer does have video of the woman in question, but policy at Fred Meyer is that video can only be released on an active investigation with a case number. My ask is that the Snohomish County Sheriff’s department open a case on my missing pet so that I can obtain the video and hopefully question the woman who was seen with what I believe to be my dog. This particular case has gained a lot of attention in the community and it would be greatly appreciated by more than just myself, but by the greater community that has been involved with the search for Fats. Anything you or your deputies can do to assist with this would be greatly appreciated. Matthew McSheehy Cell (425) 246-3475 Office (206) 318-xxxx
