EARLY BIRD NEWS WITH Orange Uganda: CLEARED: The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has cleared most National Social Security Fund (NSSF) top managers of fraud and corruption. The IGG, Irene Mulyagonja however, has asked Finance minister Maria Kiwanuka to reprimand two officials including former NSSF managing director, Richard Byarugaba, of some irregularities in the way some deals and funds were handled leading to the fund’s loss of UGX100 million. MPs PROTEST THE SUSPENSION OF UNIVERSITY PREGNANT GIRLS: Members of Parliament and health rights activists have protested the suspension of three pregnant girls by the administration, Bishop Barham University College in Kabale district. They claim that pregnancy is not described in any of Uganda’s laws as a crime. They have therefore urged the university administration to reconsider its decision. EXPLOSION AT OMUKAMA’S FARM: Police is investigating a grenade explosion at Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabambas Farm. The explosion occurred on Saturday morning injuring a 19-year old casual laborer. EBOLA DEATH TOLL AT 74: Guinea said Tuesday 74 people had died so far this year in one of the worst ever outbreaks of the Ebola virus. The health ministry said since January, there had been 121 confirmed cases of Ebola, an incurable disease that can kill up to 90 percent of its victims. IRAQIS TAKE TO THE POLLS: Iraqis are today voting in the countrys first parliamentary elections since the withdrawal of US troops three years ago. The polls come as Iraq is experiencing its worst unrest since 2008, with 160 people killed in the last week alone. BANNED: The owner of the Los Angeles Clippers professional basketball team has been banned from the National Basketball Association for life, after a recording emerged of him making racist remarks.
