EARLY BIRDS AND ANGRY BIRDS AH,POLITICS- The circus is coming to town. I mean the political season in this country is not coming soon, but it is here for everybody to feel. It is still 15 months away when officially we will know who filed their certificates of candidacies before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). And that will be in October next year. Vice President Jejomar Binay, a declared presidential aspirant is getting the flak already. And not only him,but also the wife, a former mayor and son incumbent Makati Mayor Junjun. Graft and corruption cases are being raked up and played sensationally in mainstream media. Same thing with Senator Lito Lapid. Some fellow reporters are so surprised to see the screaming headline in the Thursday issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reporting Lapids graft case filed before the Sandiganbayan. And the next day, he was featured in an editorial cartoon of the same paper. And to think that Lapids alleged crime was his failure to bid the purchase of fertilizer amounting to P5 million. You might readily assume that is indeed very exceptional in news evaluation. Those officials involved in billions of pesos didnt get much attention from the PDI. Anyone can suspect that an unseen hands and politics are behind. COUNTRYSIDE POLITICS- In Sta. Ana town Mayor Rommel Concepcion will finish in 2016 his third and last term. He is planning to field his son Rameses , a member of the municipal council in the mayoralty race. In Porac town, popular Councilor Mike Tapang is gathering all his guts and political allies and is readying to wage battle against incumbent and well loved Mayor Carling de la Cruz who is eligible for his last term. Two former mayor of the town, Quiel Gamboa and Roger Santos will quarterback Tapangs campaign, according to Mikes camp. In Mabalacat, Board Member Cris Garbo will take on all comers, including the permanent Mayor Boking Morales. Vice Mayor Christian Halili is the dark horse. He may spring a surprise and may join the race if the clamor will remain till next year In Bacolor, Mayor Jomar Hizon is being wooed to throw his hat in the congressional race in the third district, but hesitates because incumbent Oscar Rodriguez is a fellow Liberal Party member. He may consider according to reports if Rodriguez decides to reclaim the San Fernando mayorship. There is a great hesitation in the veteran lawmaker because if he decides to move from batasan to city hall, it may open the congressional district and dont want to see the comeback of both former Congressmen Rey Aquino and Aurelio Dong Gonzales. If they read this item, the two might get angry. In Guagua, Dante Torres is doing hardwork and proving his worth to his constituents. He will have a serious rival in the coming elections. Vice Mayor Tonton Twano is in his third and final term, and as a matter of course, he will be in collision with Torres. The battleground is the oversized barangay of Betis and the support of the Pinedas. The situation in each area is still fluid. Anything can still happen. But politics is always an interesting topic. -30-
