EARLY VOTING FOR NOVEMBER 4, 2014 ELECTION BEGINS MONDAY, OCTOBER 20: Voters need to go to the polls with Photo ID in hand Houston, TX – The Early Voting Period for the November 4, 2014 General & Special Elections begins on Monday October 20 and continues until October 31. During this period, registered voters in Harris County may vote at any one of the 41 early voting sites. “Please be aware that photo identification is required to vote at the poll during early voting and on election day,” said Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart, the chief elections official of the county, encouraging voters to be prepared. “I anticipate over half of the voters will vote early in this election.” The state approved Photo IDs for voting include: - Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) - Texas Election Identification Certificate (EIC) - Texas personal identification card issued by DPS - Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS - United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph - United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph - United States passport If a voter does not have an acceptable form of photo identification, a free Election Identification Card (EIC) can be obtained from the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Requirements to apply for an EIC can be found at txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense/electionID.htm.
