EARS BUT THEY DO NOT HEAR “He who has an ear, let him hear what - TopicsExpress

EARS BUT THEY DO NOT HEAR “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” Revelation 2:11 How often do we hear something that had never been said? Especially as we get older and our hearing is starting to fail us. This happened to a group of people who all heard the same thing but not the thing that was really said. It was summertime and time for students to work for scholarships. Two young ladies were assigned to work in a certain city. They had never worked there before and were, therefore, strangers to all the people. The arrangement was for them to arrive there on Sunday and that the publishing leader would be there on Monday to give them the necessary start to put them on their way. They both needed to earn enough money in this holiday to see them through the next year. This was a tall order, especially in a city where there was much prejudice against anybody who does not belong to the state church. These two young ladies were very courageous. Instead of arriving on Sunday as planned, they arrived on the precious Wednesday, four days early, without the knowledge of the leader who had to assist them. On Thursday morning, they started calling on people, selling their books. There was no time to waste. They had to earn their school fees, and their time was limited. They worked all day long on Thursday and most of Friday with some success. Then they decided that perhaps it would be good for them to wait for Monday, when their leader could be with them. It was obvious that for them to earn their scholarships was not going to be easy. Early on Sunday morning they heard the church bells ringing, calling the people to church. They were not sure whether or not perhaps the local pastor was going to warn the people not to buy their books. They prepared themselves for a tough time on Monday. Monday morning came, and not one but two publishing leaders arrived. After a short training session, each leader took one student with him to visit the homes. Right at the first house, the sale was made very easy. The people simply said, “Our minister told us in church yesterday that there are two ladies in the city selling books. He said we should buy the books.” Not only the first home but the next and the next and just about every home that week and the next week was easy. The people were friendly, and it appeared as if these two students were expected. It was later discovered that what the minister actually said was that the people should NOT buy the books. All the people in church that day heard what God wanted them to hear, and the two young ladies made their scholarships in a little more than two weeks. Today we pray for all the thousands of young people selling God’s books, not only to earn scholarships but also to gain experience in winning souls for heaven. Miracles of Grace
