EARTH WORSHIP! When people try to rid their lives of God they invariably fill the void with another god. We see this reality in Romans 1 where people are shown to suppress the truth of God in exchange for a lie. They change the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man - and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. (cf. Rom. 1:18-23). In other words they turn from worship of the true God to idolatry of one form or another. They dont turn from God to nothing. Rather, they turn from worshiping the Creator to worshiping the creation. And that is where we are as a culture. So many today are embracing a form of earth worship. We see this in many sectors of the environmental enthusiasts. Now of course we all agree that good stewardship that properly regulates destructive pollution in a balanced fashion is a good thing. However, in the name of science combined with politics many true worshipers of so called mother nature and mother earth are pushing their agenda. In reality this is a return to paganism. Paganism is essentially the worship of nature. Many of those embracing so called climate change are really pushing a form of paganism. True science is lost on these people. Never mind that in recent years instead of global warming actual science shows that the trend has been global cooling. Joel Belz reports: Pick up the massive 840 page National-Climate Assessment released by the White House early this month. The report is billed as a thoughtful update on the overall threat of a polluted atmosphere to our planet and to the human race. Instead, the report is a lopsidedly constructed piece of leftist propaganda. It starts with a bias moves on through long passages of misleading data collection, and ends with flat-out lies. (World Mag - June 14, 2014) The Berean Call writes: This pagan spirituality is ideal for uniting all religions together with science into a world religion. Al Gore, ...has said that ecological problems can only be solved through a new spirituality common to all religions and that saving the Earth requires reuniting science and religion. In the book of Revelation the term earth dwellers is used 10 times in a technical way to refer to unbelievers (cf. Rev. 3:10, 6:10, 8:13, 11:10, 13:8, 14, 17:8). These are people that live for EARTH. They live for now and themselves. They worship this life and what it has to offer for self. When people reject the true God they consistently turn to the gods of paganism. Good stewardship - yes. Planet worship - NO! The fact is planet earth is breaking down. Newsflash! There is no saving the planet. It will perish! But souls are eternal. As C.S. Lewis said, All that is not eternal is eternally out of date. Let us worship the Creator and not the creation! Hebrews 1:10–12 (NKJV) 10 And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 11 They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment; 12 Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail.” 2 Peter 3:9–13 (NKJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
