EAT MORE ROCKS: The mind and body are one and the same. We all - TopicsExpress

EAT MORE ROCKS: The mind and body are one and the same. We all know the body will not get strong unless we consistently put it through training that challenges us, and even occasionally, defeats us. So what would happen if we all started only working out with weights that were 20%, 40%, or even 70% of our maximum abilities? Would we get stronger and more prepared for challenge? The answer is NO, wed actually get weaker, less fit, and more injury prone, dare I use the word delicate. How then, are we supposed to be mentally healthy, happy, strong, and vibrant when we are constantly coddled and taught to want every new shiny object that can somehow help shield us from even the most mild of discomforts, problems, or decisions? We all want that bright future bursting with happiness and success, the carrot our modern world dangles. But, with our shrinking comfort zones and a world that only demands 20% of our real efforts - we will never achieve those things. Rather, well just keep chasing it, foolishly expecting to catch up with it. Its a mismatch. And We are getting WEAKER. The problems that just 10 years ago were nothing, like those days of driving somewhere without GPS and turn by turn directions, today are a problem that we actually consider to be a real problem. The problems of just a few decades ago that were nothing, like being patient and alone while in line for something, walking to school, or knowing how to drive a standard vehicle or change a tire, today are a problem that we actually consider to be a real problem. The problems that were nothing a few hundred years ago, like working the land for every morsel your family eats, or moving across the country in a snowstorm in a wagon are insurmountable, almost laughable feats that today would not be a problem but an immediate defeat. (Mentally, even before physically - although itd be close!) ....And the problems that were nothing a few thousand years ago? That whole being pretty much naked all the time, eating rocks or hunting killer wild animals thing? Thats basically a fictional story at this point.
