As you maybe aware, the internet enabled PipulPikin.org group is working in partnership with the non-partisan United Sierra Leone Initiative # wanword campaign in supporting government to stop and prevent the spread of Ebola . As part of PipulPikin.org groups efforts to stop and prevent Ebola is to provide credible, accurate and timely information to the people of Sierra Leone and the international community. It is in this regard that, we are kindly requesting your bro-bono legal services, on behalf of the people of Sierra Leone, for you to request the government of Sierra Leone to provide the full list of names, age, gender and address of all EBOLA DEATHS AND AN AUDITED FINANCIAL REPORT ON EBOLA INCOME AND EXPENDITURE since the Ebola outbreak to date. This information is being requested under the The Right to Access Information Act 2013, otherwise known as the Freedom of Information Act 2013. The group desperately need this vital information to enable us promote a commemorative memorial for all our brothers and sisters who have been killed by this deadly Ebola virus. This information could also help in our collective planning and implementation of current and post-ebola programmes, without recourse to stigmatising victims. This request for information is a matter of public policy and in the public interest. We would like to know about the manner of execution of Ebola programmes, including the amounts allocated, source of funding, number of staff staff and salaries and details of beneficiaries of such programmes being held by public authorities. The disclosure of such information could help prevent the many unconfirmed allegations and accusations being disseminated by some misinformed organisations and individuals hence undermining and distracting our collective efforts to eradicate Ebola. It is important to note that this request has NO potential to compromise national security. This disclosure is required to promote public health and public safety amid this deadly Ebola crisis. What is the point of having a Freedom of Information Law that cannot be implemented and enforced, if government has deliberately failed to establish the modalities and systems that will make this happen? We could have directly submitted this request for information to the government instead , but due to the limited time and lack of resources, also considering the likely legal huddles and delays in seeking such information from government hence the need to seek your legal aid. We truly hope that you can help and put forward our request to the government of Sierra Leone for such information to be provided within the timeframe as stipulated by law.
