EBOLA DEPT. — Have you noticed how Ebola has all but disappeared from the mainstream news cycle? This in spite of its exponential spreading powering on? This in spite of WHO, CDC, NECSI, etc. predicting 2 million cases by next spring if we dont get it under control by the beginning of the year? If Ebola remains unchecked, 2 million by spring means how many more millions by next summer? How bad does Ebola have to get for mainstream news to deign to properly cover it again? What will make it register on that radar again? Without any effective treatment but fluids, and so many medical services already being overwhelmed,... what horrors should we reasonably expect? When? Where? Have the media been deliberately underreporting this, possibly to prevent widespread panics, food hoarding rushes, riots and the rampant violence associated with those? Or does the pace of the spreading of Ebola just not mesh well with that of the 24-hour news cycle and its seemingly ever shorter attention span? Or both? Or for other reasons still? What do *you* think?
