EBOLA FACTS! Stop being scared! ;-) Yes, the latest outbreak in West Africa is serious. Yes, Ebola can kill you. No, if you are in America, you do not need to be scared. HISTORY OF EBOLA, since its discovery in 1976: The disease typically occurs in outbreaks in tropical regions of sub-Saharan Africa.[1] From 1976 (when it was first identified) through 2013, the World Health Organization reported a total of 1,716 cases.[1][5] The largest outbreak to date is the ongoing 2014 West African Ebola outbreak, which is currently affecting Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.[6][7] As of 15 October 2014, 8,998 suspected cases resulting in the deaths of 4,493 have been reported. Why is there no vaccine? Because from 1976 to 2013 (37 years) there were only 1716 cases recognized by the World Health Organization. This current outbreak is an anomaly and does need to be addressed of course. The Prophet Willy™ recommends: 1. SHUT DOWN FLIGHTS FROM AFFECTED AREAS TO THE USA UNTIL THE OUTBREAK IS CONTAINED. 2. FAST TRACK THE VACCINE THAT IS CURRENTLY BEING TESTED AT A U.S. MILITARY HEALTH RESEARCH FACILITY RIGHT NOW, WHICH HAS ALREADY HAD SUCCESSFUL RESULTS IN ANIMAL TESTING 3. BE SURE THAT THERE IS CONTAINMENT IN THE ONE CASE THAT WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED IN THE USA AND THE TWO AFFECTED HEALTH CARE WORKERS THAT WORKED WITH THE ONLY KNOWN CASE OF EBOLA TO BE PRESENTED HERE IN THE USA. --- The two health care workers makes 3 total in the USA as of this moment. 4. USE THE SAME FULL PROTECTIVE GEAR IN OUR HOSPITALS AS THOSE IN THE WEST AFRICAN FACILITIES WHEN TREATING THESE TWO HEALTH CARE WORKERS THAT ARE NOW INFECTED. 5. DONT WORRY.
