ECIL bags export order from Toshiba -22-Nov-2014 State-owned Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) has received an export order from Toshiba Corporation of Japan worth $ 300,000 (about Rs 1.8 crore) for supply of 8.5m S Band antenna and 4.2m C Band antenna. The antenna systems form part of weather monitoring radars and will be integrated with transmitter, receiver and radar processor provided by Toshiba. The radar antennas operating in microwave frequency band enable accurate prediction of weather. ECIL and Toshiba have also signed an agreement to address the domestic and international market for doppler weather radars providing a technically superior, highly reliable solution with greatly reduced operating costs and eco-friendly system, according to a company press release recently. Earlier, ECIL along with Toshiba has bagged an order from the Indian Meteorological Department for supply of solid state doppler weather radar. This radar at Srinagar will be operationalised by January, 2015, enabling accurate prediction of weather and help the civilian authorities in taking preventive measures while addressing natural calamities.
