ECZ changes exams timetable for Grades 7 and 12 The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has announced a change in the Examinations timetable for grades Sevens and Twelve with immediate effect. Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka this afternoon Examinations Council of Zambia Director Micheal Chilala says the Grade Seven examinations will start on 14th and end on 18th October 2013, while the Grade Twelve examinations will start on 4th October and end on 8th November respectively. Mr. Chilala says arising from the revised timetable, it is expected that the grades seven and nine results will be released in time for grade 8 and 10 pupils to open school at the same time as other pupils in January 2014, while the grade 12 examination results are expected to be released before the end of January 2014. Mr. Chilala adds that in an effort to reduce on the opportunity for examination irregularities; the grade twelve examinations will start with theory papers and end with practical papers. He stresses that the early release of grade 12 results will give the school leavers enough time to apply for enrollment in college and universities and reduce the time of waiting before pursuing tertiary education. Mr.Chilala adds that no change has been made with regards to grade nine examinations. Meanwhile the Examinations Council of Zambia has also introduced midyear GCE examinations in response to the increased demand for GCE exams. Mr.Chilala says the introduction of the midyear examination is effective from June 2014. And Mr Chilala has warned Teachers in the habit of involvement in examination malpractices that the risk facing dismissal if caught.
